There are lots of ways to enjoy the agricultural bounty of Washington County. Visit any of our farmer’s markets, and you’ll be treated to glorious sights (colorful flowers and produce), scents, tastes, textures and sounds (many markets feature live music). Besides fresh produce, you’ll also find locally raised meat and dairy products, farm-fresh eggs, prepared foods and skin care products featuring local ingredients, fresh baked goods, handicrafts, and all sorts of items for the garden.
To celebrate Washington County’s agricultural heritage in a grand way, a visit to the Washington County Fair is a must. This weeklong event features traditional competitions (for lifestock, produce, artwork, cooking, etc.), great food, live music, and fun midway rides for kids and adults. The 68-acre fairgrounds also include three museums that showcase farm machinery and implements, an old caboose, and a one-room schoolhouse. Washington County Fair parking is always free.
